The Indiana Department of Transportation now plans for the Interstate 69 extension to reach Bloomington by the end of 2015, a year later than originally planned.

INDOT spokesman Will Wingfield tells the Evansville Courier & Press that construction crews have been delayed by wet summers this year and in 2013, along with cold, inclement winters.

An earlier timeline had the 27-mile fourth section segment from Crane to Bloomington opening by the end of 2014. Later, the projected opening was pushed back to no later than early 2015, but Wingfield says the state doesn't anticipate opening any portion of the fourth section before the end of this year.

Monroe County sought to limit nighttime work on the extension with a noise ordinance, but a judge has temporarily blocked the ordinance.
