Lawson reminds Indiana residents of new voter forms

Secretary of State Connie Lawson is reminding Indiana residents the state has new voter registration forms and will no longer accept the old forms starting Jan. 1.

Lawson says the new forms will help decrease the possibility of voter registration fraud by tracking the chain of custody for voter registration applications. She says the change is needed because in past elections that state has had fraudulent voter registration forms submitted for Jimmy Johns and Mickey Mouse.

The updated form includes a new section for individuals who collect voter registration applications to document their name, address and when they received completed applications.

Lawson says the additional information required by the new form can aid county voter registration offices identify patterns of suspicious activity or violations of election law.
