Last piece of Ohio River bridge to be blasted
Officials have rescheduled the demolition of a 600-foot section of an 84-year-old Ohio River bridge connecting Kentucky and Indiana.
The section of the Milton-Madison Bridge is now set for Thursday morning. It had originally been scheduled on Tuesday.
Kentucky officials are asking residents in the Milton area to stay indoors until after the scheduled 9 a.m. blast.
The new span will close at around 9 a.m. and is expected to reopen to traffic by 11 a.m. River traffic will also be closed.
Once the old span is removed, the original piers will be widened to accommodate the new 40-foot-wide bridge. That bridge is currently on temporary piers.
The new bridge will be placed on the renovated original piers later this year.
