Large pothole disables vehicles on Interstate 69
Several crashes and weather-related traffic incidents have been reported Wednesday night around central Indiana.
A large pothole is being blamed for at least seven disabled vehicles on I-69.
State police say the pothole is located in I-69 southbound at the ramp to I-465 South/I-465 West. Several vehicles have pulled off to the side of the road with flattened tires from striking the hole.
Crews were patching the hole overnight for Thursday morning's commute.
Earlier Wednesday night, an ambulance overturned in a crash on US 31 in Carmel.
Carmel police say the ambulance was traveling south on US 31 when it began to fishtail, then went sideways in the roadway and overturned, landing on its side. As it came to rest, the ambulance lightly struck a Jeep that was facing east on 116th Street.
The ambulance was not on an emergency run and the only occupants of the ambulance were two employees, who were not injured.
The driver of the Jeep later sought treatment for neck pain. There was minimal damage to the Jeep.
Investigators say the ambulance was traveling too fast for the slick conditions on US 31 at the time of the crash.
