Two schools and an administrative building went under lockdown at 11:00 am Wednesday as Lafayette Police searched for a possible suicidal person.

Sunnyside Middle School, Murdock Elementary School and the Hiatt Administration Center were placed on lockdown at about 11:00 am, Assistant Superintendent John Layton said.

At about 11:45 a.m., police sent out an alert asking residents to avoid the area of N. 22nd and Ferry streets.

Lafayette Police are searching for the person in that area. They have an ambulance standing by in case of emergency.
