Lafayette Police search for driver in deadly hit and run

Lafayette Police are looking for the driver that hit a man on Union Street near the Salem Split. Police first responded to the scene on reports that a man was walking in the street. When they got there, they were told that the man had been hit. The vehicle that hit him did not stop. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lafayette Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting in the investigation. The suspect vehicle is believed to have a broken passenger side front headlight and possible damage to the hood.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending confirmation of the coroner and notification of next of kin.
