La Scala is showing off for Milan's 2015 world fair, offering several shorter operas for children as well as cheaper tickets to attract opera-lovers who haven't been able to afford to go to the fabled opera house.

General director Alexander Pereira on Tuesday unveiled the 2014-2015 season's program, which overlaps with the city's Expo 2015. He said La Scala Theater will be open every day during the world's fair, running May 1 to Oct. 31.

Operas lasting about 90 minutes will be put on for children. Pereira said he hopes some 25,000 children from Milan and the surrounding region will attend.

In 2015, 20 opera and ballet performances will have half-priced tickets, Pereira said, to "bring to the theater those who never had the possibility to attend."
