INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Now that Kroger has acquired 11 former Marsh supermarkets, they're looking for employees to work at those stores.

Topvalco, Inc., a subsidiary of Kroger, was approved to purchase the stores earlier this week. The purchase is expected to be finalized next month.

Two of the new stores will be located in Indianapolis, two in Bloomington, two in Muncie and two in Zionsville. Marsh stores in Brownsburg, Fishers, and Greenwood will also become Kroger stores.

While it is not yet known when the new Kroger stores will open, the company will hold in-store job fairs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17. Kroger is also scheduling six job fairs across central Indiana next week to staff the openings.

Those job fairs will be held at the following locations:

  • Hilton Garden Inn - South Side, 5255 Noggle Way, Indianapolis, IN 46237 (June 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.)
  • Drury Plaza Hotel - Carmel, 9625 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46290 (June 20-21, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)
  • Kroger (store opening this summer), 8130 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis, IN 46259 (June 21-22, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)

  • Innovation Connector, 1208 W. White River Blvd., Muncie, IN 47303 (June 19, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and June 20, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Courtyard by Marriott at Horizon Convention Center, 601 S. High Street, Muncie, IN 47305 (June 21, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)

  • Holiday Inn Express, 117 S. Franklin Road, Bloomington, IN 47404 (June 20-21, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)

Kroger says jobseekers can also apply at Kroger's Pay Less stores in Anderson. More job fairs will be held across central Indiana.

Kroger's Central Division President Katie Wolfram says the company is "especially interested in interviewing people who already have experience in the grocery business or in other retail fields." She says the positions are long-term with a "great potential for growth."
