Dozens of people gathered in Kokomo Wednesday night for a non-denominational prayer service.

It's been a little over a month since tornadoes hit the Howard County city and people in some of the hardest hit areas are still recovering from the damage.

Survivors and volunteers came together to pray for continued healing and to be thankful that the storm did not take a bigger toll on the area.

"We went through something that I have feared my entire life, ever since I was a little girl, and we made it, along with everybody else in this town. We didn't lose anybody, so you have to think there's a higher power out there somewhere," said resident Lynn Wales.

Several community churches worked with the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, United Way, and Kokomo Rescue Mission to organize tonight's service.
