Knightstown H.S. on lock down Thursday after "suspicious activity"
School officials at Knightstown High School are taking extra precautions after an undisclosed incident at the school late Wednesday.
Principal Scott Ritchie tweeted Wednesday evening that the high school will be on "exterior lock down" Thursday. He said officers will be at the school in the morning for searches as students and staff enter the building.
"We are taking precautions due to an incident at the end of school today. We just want to play it safe," Ritchie replied to one question.
Ritchie told Eyewitness News in an email the precautions are "due to suspicious activity at the end of the day." He said parents have been notified of the procedures put in place for Thursday morning.
The Knightstown Banner newspaper reports several people told them police were at the high school Wednesday, but it is not known to what they were responding.
Ritchie also tweeted that students and staff should only use the south main and west bus entrance to the school Thursday and should arrive no earlier than 7:50 a.m.
