Kitten survives after being tossed into road in plastic bag

A shocking case of animal abuse out of northern Indiana.

Three kittens were found stuffed in a plastic bag and tossed into the middle of an Allen County road.

A car had already hit it when a passerby stopped and looked inside. Amazingly, a seven-week-old kitten later named Mercy survived and is now in a foster home until she's ready for adoption.

"It was mortifying really to us and incredibly saddening and maddening really that somebody would first of all put those kittens in that situation, especially when there's so many resources available in our community for unwanted pets," said Jessica Henry, Allen County SPCA.

Investigators are still looking for clues into who is behind this case of abuse.
