Jury selection continues for case brought by Michael Jackson's mother
Selection of a jury for a wrongful death lawsuit involving Michael Jackson is complicated by the fact that several potential jurors have personal connections.
One singer-songwriter on the panel is friends with Lisa Marie Presley, has friends in Jackson's band and is managed by a potential witness. He was dismissed. So was a woman who works with one of the law firms involved and thinks she would have a bias.
A judge who happens to be in the jury pool was not dismissed, even though she knows some of the witnesses, because she says she will stay impartial. Jackson's mother, Katherine, is suing concert promoter AEG for hiring an incompetent doctor to look after her son.
Dr. Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death.
