Jackson Co. deputy released from hospital after shooting

A Jackson County Sheriff's deputy has been released from the hospital after being shot Thursday.

WAVE-TV in Louisville reports the deputy was shot twice in an incident in the 5800 block of SR 39 in Tampico. He was flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

According to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers, Officer Rick Meyer was attempting to place handcuffs on a suspect when another person shot at Meyer, hitting him twice near the clavicle.

Authorities have arrested two suspects in the shooting.
