IU student found dead in dorm room

Bloomington - Police say the death of an Indiana University student found in her dorm room was apparently a suicide.

The Indiana Daily Student newspaper reported the female student was a resident of the Gucker Tower of Briscoe Quad and was found around 3 p.m. Tuesday. University spokesman Larry MacIntyre confirmed to Eyewitness News that the woman, whose class or age was not available, was found in her bed in the room.

IU Police Chief Keith Cash said early Tuesday evening that the death is an apparent suicide, there was no foul play and public safety is not threatened.

The woman's identity has not been released.

Counselors are notifying and counseling students on campus.
