The build-up to Sunday's return of Peyton Manning to Lucas Oil Stadium now includes controversial comments from Colts owner Jim Irsay and a blistering reaction from Denver Broncos Coach John Fox.

It all started with an article in USA Today where Irsay seemed frustrated the Colts won only one Super Bowl during the Manning era.

Broncos Coach John Fox called Irsay's words "disappointing" and "inappropriate" and said he'd be thankful with one Super Bowl Ring.

Wednesday morning on Twitter, Jim Irsay clarified that his comment wasn't meant to be a critique of Peyton Manning.

"My comments meant if we gave Peyton better SP Teams n Def, we would have won more than 1 Sup/Bowl,instead of asking Peyton 2do too much," Irsay tweeted.

Irsay later added, "Greatest QB of their era, which is obviously Brady vs Peyton(my vote's Peyton),at least now the media will NOT use Sup/Bowl wins n debate!!"

Former Colts General Manager Bill Polian joined in Wednesday in an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Irsay fired Polian after the Colts went 2-14 in 2011 without Manning.

Polian said he didn't know what to make of Irsay's comments, adding, "For anyone who is in the game and who has to make that journey from training camp to the Super Bowl, you that it's awfully difficult to get there."
