Irish QB Rees admits to alcohol, resisting charges
Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees will perform 50 hours of community service after pleading guilty to misdemeanor counts of resisting law enforcement and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor in connection with his arrest outside a party in South Bend.
The sentence the 20-year-old Rees received Monday also includes a 30-day suspended jail sentence, 11 months on probation and writing a letter of apology to the officers involved in his May 3 arrest.
Prosecutors have agreed to dismiss one count of resisting law enforcement and a battery count in return for the guilty plea.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Rees was pepper-sprayed and arrested after he allegedly ran away from an off-campus party and knocked the wind out of a police officer who caught up to him.
