IPS breaks trend of declining enrollment
Indianapolis Public Schools is reporting steady enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year, breaking a trend of enrollment decline, the school district said.
Preliminary results from Friday's official student count day show IPS has 28,875 students, up 24 students from one year ago.
The Average Daily Membership (ADM) number is used to calculate state funding for Indiana school districts. The ADM number represents .5 credit for each kindergarten student and does not include those enrolled in preschool.
The total number of students enrolled at IPS is 30,773 compared with 30,557 students one year ago.
The successful expanded IPS preschool program has 690 students this year.
