INDYCAR packs up for Brazil
INDYCAR teams packed up their cars and supplies at the Indianapolis International Airport Friday morning. The series has one more race, and one more long trip, before INDYCAR comes back home for the Indianapolis 500 next month.
INDYCAR races on the streets of Brazil May 5th at the Sao Paulo Indy 300, the only event this year outside North America.
About 400,000 pounds of freight are loaded on two 747 cargo planes. Cars are stacked by two's in specially designed steel racks. The planes leave Indianapolis on Sunday for the almost five thousand mile flight to Brazil.
Will Power has won all three races at Brazil. Helio Castroneves is the current season points leader after three races.
After the teams return from Brazil, all attention turns to the Indy 500. The track opens for practice May 11th. The race is May 26th.
