Indy Parks to hire 300 summer lifeguards
The city of Indianapolis is hiring hundreds of lifeguards for the summer.
Indy Parks and Recreation will hire more than 300 seasonal lifeguards and pool supervisors to work at 20 aquatic facilities throughout Marion County.
"Indy Parks' lifeguards are trained and certified using the StarGuard certification program which covers lifeguarding skills, water rescue techniques, First Aid, and CPR. The training is completed at an Indy Parks' internal training facility and is available on select weekends starting April 4, 2014," the department wrote in a release.
Applicants must be 16 years old and pass a swimming test, while proving competency in water rescue techniques. Hours and working conditions may vary throughout the summer.
