INDOT taking applications for federal road money
The Indiana Department of Transportation wants applications from rural towns, cities and counties for federal road dollars.
INDOT allots 25 percent of its federal funding each year for large local transportation projects. Local communities must typically pay 20 percent of the project costs.
In order to win the federal dollars, projects would have to be designed and developed and land purchased by July 2016.
Local officials can submit applications using the state's website. The deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 13.
Project awards are expected to be announced by the end of January.
