Indians thump Bats 9-2

The Indianapolis Indians got off to a quick start and never looked back in a 9-2 road win over Louisville Friday night.

The Indians scored three runs in the first and fourth innings, scoring all of their runs by the fifth frame, when they took a 9-0 lead. The outfielders led the attack as CF Chris Dickerson, LF Chase d'Arnaud and RF Gregory Polanco combined for seven hits, six runs and five RBI.

Brandon Cumpton allowed just five hits, all singles, and didn't walk a batter in seven scoreless innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. He added two singles, scored one run and drove in another to help his own cause at the plate.

The Indians and Bats meet again Saturday night, this time at Victory Field in Indianapolis. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
