Indiana’s Olympic Gold Medal Diver David Boudia to Make a Splash at the WTHR Health and Fitness Expo


INDIANAPOLIS — WTHR, Channel 13 announced today that Olympic Gold Medalist David Boudia will appear at the WTHR Health and Fitness Expo on Sunday April 28th, 2013 to teach, inspire and encourage families to make healthy nutritional choices. David said, "This is a great opportunity that allows me to continue the theme of the London Olympic Games to 'inspire a generation' for a healthier lifestyle."

David is a native Hoosier. Born in Noblesville, Indiana, he currently resides in West Lafayette. Boudia began his diving career at the age of 11 in 2000. He went on to compete in diving at Purdue University where he earned six NCAA national titles before turning pro in April of 2011, forgoing his final year of college eligibility to focus on the 2012 London Olympic Games. Boudia won two medals at the Games, including a thrilling final-round performance in the individual 10-meter platform. His Gold medal was the first for the U.S. in diving since the 2000 Olympics. David also earned a Bronze medal with partner Nick McCrory in the synchronized 10-meter platform competition. He is the top 10-meter platform diver in the country and is regarded as one of the best in the world.

Through the Find Your Favorite-Indy Hero initiative, David works to improve and encourage students and families to make healthy nutritional choices and explore local produce offerings. As an Indy Heroes ambassador he stresses the importance of fitness and a healthy diet.

Earlier this year David jumped head-first into the world of television when he joined Greg Louganis as a judge on ABC's hit reality show Celebrity Splash. He has also been featured in numerous national publications including Sports Illustrated and USA Today. In October of 2012 he married his college sweetheart and is currently completing his degree at Purdue University and will graduate in 2014.

The WTHR Health and Fitness Expo is scheduled for April 27th and 28th at the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds. The Expo will feature the most health care exhibits under one roof, and will include free health screenings, live exercise, dance and cooking demonstrations, and celebrity appearances including Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck and national TV personalities Giuliana and Bill Rancic. At the Expo visitors can connect with nearly 100 exhibitors with the latest in health information and new ways to stay healthy.
