A fatal crash involving multiple vehicles, including a semi-trailer, closed I-69 near Pendleton late Monday night.

Family members say Audrey Chavez died in the crash. She leaves behind three young children.

The crash was caused when a northbound semi, driven by 58-year-old Kim McCall of St. Ann, Missouri, failed to slow down when it came upon slower traffic entering a construction zone at 11:20 p.m. Monday.  Police say McCall's truck struck the victim's vehicle from behind and pushed it into a pickup truck, causing a fire that destroyed the Chavez's vehicle.

The driver of the pickup, 33-year-old Brad Schlacter of Findlay, Ohio, was not hurt.  His pickup struck another pickup driven by 51-year-old Frederick Mills of Muncie.  Mills was not hurt, according to police.

A GoFundMe site has been set up to pay for Chavez's funeral expenses, and an account at Chase Bank has been created for her children. Donations may be made to the Jaden, Luke and Maya Woodard account at any Chase Bank branch.
