The year 1911 brought the first Indianapolis 500, the first public elevator and the birth of Euphremia Morris.

Euphremia Morris celebrated her 103rd birthday Wednesday. The staff at Forest Creek Village, an American Senior Community on the southside of Indianapolis, threw a birthday party for Morris with a banner, balloons and cake.

How does she feel at 103 years old?

"Well, I've had other years that were better," said Morris with a smile.

And her advice for a long life?

"You have to be good, work hard, help other people and smile," said Morris.

Residents and staff sang "Happy Birthday" to Euphremia. She then needed three breaths, but she blew out the three candles on her cake with the numbers 1-0-3.

Morris is originally from Kankakee, Ill. She has lived at Forest Park Village for five years.
