Teamsters Local 135 is on strike in Indianapolis against Pepsico. The strike was authorized last Saturday and the strike began today at noon.

Callers have reported picketers standing outside the plant.

Local 135 has 350 members at the Indianapolis plant, which handles bottling and delivery.

The dispute is over increased healthcare costs, according to Local 135.

Pepsico released this statement:

"We're disappointed that Local 135 has decided to strike.  After a series of good-faith negotiations, we agreed to the union's healthcare proposal and we offered a wage and pension plan increase in line with others around the country. As we work with the union to settle this matter, we'll continue to fully service our customers and consumers in the region."
