Indianapolis officer assaulted by suspect

A homeless man was arrested downtown Saturday afternoon after he assaulted two females and an IMPD police officer.

Police were called just before 4 p.m. to the 100 block of South Meridian Street for the report of a male assaulting two women.

Officer Mark Barnett responded to the call and confronted 29-year-old Nathaniel Sconiers who then assaulted the officer.  Sconiers was arrested for battery, battery with injury and resisting law enforcement.

The suspect told police that he stays at a homeless camp at Davidson and Maryland Street.
