An Indianapolis native sang live on the TODAY Show Monday as part of the cast of the Tony-nominated show “Violet.”

Ben Davis, who was dressed as a train conductor for the performance, helped kick off Broadway Week on the show.

Davis is a Lawrence North High School and Butler University graduate. He has done several shows on Broadway and toured for several years with Les Miserables.

Violet is the story of a young woman who has a horrible scar on her face. She’s on a train headed to meet an evangelist (played by Davis) who can pray away the scar. Sutton Foster plays Violet – and does so with no make up at all. The scar is left to the audience to imagine.
Davis plays a few roles, including the preacher that Violet is going to see.

Much of Davis' family still lives in the Indianapolis area. Read more about Ben Davis here and watch his "TODAY" show performance here.
