Many central Indiana communities are changing their trick or treat hours due to expected storms Thursday night, and a few others are considering it.

High winds and heavy rain is in the forecast during peak trick or treat times Thursday.

Indianapolis is the latest city to join the list. On Thursday, Avon, Brownsburg, Fishers, Jamestown, Lawrence, Muncie and Plainfield all said they would hold official trick or treat hours on Friday instead of Thursday.

Many other towns and cities have joined the growing list. See an updated list here.

The mandatory sex offender meeting in Indianapolis will now be held Friday instead of Thursday.

Indoor events planned at Indianapolis fire stations will still be held Thursday.

Fishers Police sent out the following notice Tuesday:

"Due to the high probability of strong storms on Thursday, Fishers Police Chief George Kehl has decided to change this year's Trick-or-Treat hours to Friday evening. Trick-or-Treat hours will be on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Chief Kehl believes this change will help ensure the safety of all that choose to participate in this tradition."

Muncie's trick or treat hours will be held Friday, 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Greenfield moved their trick or treat hours to the same time.

Jamestown will hold its hours from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Brownsburg will be from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and the Brownsburg Police Station will be hosting its annual Haunted House on that same date and time.

McCordsville has also moved trick or treat to Friday night, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., the same hours they were going to hold it on Thursday. Fortville has also moved trick or treat hours to Friday, from 5-8 p.m.

Chesterfield has decided to hold trick or treating on both Thursday and Friday night from 6-8 p.m. due to the weather forecast.

Lebanon has moved trick or treat to Saturday night from 6-9 p.m.

A period of 30-40 mph gradient winds is likely on Halloween evening with the potential for gusts up to 60 mph. There could be rain as well.
