The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has lost a sports broadcasting icon.

USA Today reports that Gary Lee died Monday in his Indianapolis home. He worked on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network through the 1990s. He also worked for Channel 4.

Born Gary Hill, Lee attended Howe High School and Vincennes University.

He was 63.
