Indianapolis Motor Speedway announces G.P. of Indianapolis
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is revealing details about a new road course race planned at the track for May 2014.
The Grand Prix of Indianapolis will be Saturday May 10, 2014. Drivers will race clockwise from a standing start to kick off the month of May.
"I love it. I think it's a great opportunity for the local fans to come watch us," said defending Indianapolis 500 champion Tony Kanaan. "It's going to be a fast race track, like the Brazil race track, it's going to be a fast one."
The track will open on Thursday, May 8th with a free practice. A family of four can go to the Grand Prix for $50.
The IMS made the announcement about the new IZOD IndyCar Series road race last week.
"Two wins in the month of May here would be unbelievable," Kanaan said.
