Indianapolis man pleads not guilty in girl's beating death
A man accused of beating to death a three-year-old girl entered a not guilty plea Friday morning.
José Cruz, 20, faces murder charges in the death of his girlfriend's daughter. Police say Cruz beat to death Carmen Ellis while his girlfriend was out running errands Wednesday night.
According to a police report, investigators found the child unconscious, covered in bruises and wearing only a T-shirt.
Eyewitness News talked with he child's mother, Samantha Ellis, on the phone. She told us she wasn't standing behind Cruz and thought there was a possibility she too could face charges in her daughter's death.
