An Indianapolis man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Shelby County Monday afternoon.

Police say 52-year-old Robert Ferree was driving a 2000 Dodge Intrepid north in the 6800 block of London Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle became engulfed in flames and Ferree was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses say the vehicle was traveling 60-70 mph before the crash. Investigators found no sign that Ferree tried to brake before leaving the road.
