CONNERSVILLE (WTHR) - The Indiana State Police Pendleton District are investigating after shots were fired by a Connersville Police Department officer and a Fayette County Sheriff's Department deputy Saturday night in the 2000 block of Indiana Avenue.

Fayette County Dispatch sent the officer and deputy to the report of a fight in the backyard of a home just before 10 p.m. at that location.

As the officer and deputy arrived at the residence a man carrying a 12 gauge shotgun came around from the backyard to the front of the house. There was a confrontation and the two officers fired at the man but he was not struck.

The man later identified as 29-year-old Jason Combs went back into the residence but came out a short time later and gave himself up to officers.

Connersville Police officers took Combs into custody and he was transported to the Fayette County Jail.
