Indiana man gets four years for attack on girlfriend
A West Lafayette man has been sentenced to four years in prison for beating his girlfriend unconscious with a dumbbell and leaving her face battered and bruised.
Twenty-year-old Jonathan T. Noe had pleaded guilty to battery with a deadly weapon in the November 2011 attack. The Journal & Courier reports Noe's girlfriend told police he attacked her because he was unhappy. She suffered a broken nose, multiple contusions and damage to her teeth.
At the time, the woman had a protective order out of Porter County against Noe, but they still lived together in West Lafayette.
Noe's father testified during Monday's sentencing that his son suffered a head injury in an accident that damaged his frontal lobe. Frontal lobe injuries have been linked to aggressive and violent behavior.
