Indiana lawmakers honor victims of deadly tornadoes
Indiana lawmakers have honored the victims of Friday's tornadoes that devastated several small towns in southern Indiana and killed more than a dozen people.
House Speaker Brian Bosma asked all members to stand for a moment of silence as the House opened its session Monday morning. A pastor who gave the opening prayer asked for blessings on those who are trying to rebuild their lives following the storms.
Sen. Dennis Kruse of Auburn offered thanks in the Senate's opening prayer for all those helping the victims.
Bosma said he was working with lawmakers who represent the hardest-hit areas on a way for members of the General Assembly to assist the tornado victims.
Thirteen Indiana residents died in Friday's storms, which killed 39 people in five states.
