Indiana holds Holocaust observance
Gov. Mike Pence was part of a Holocaust remembrance ceremony Wednesday at the Indiana Statehouse.
The observance took place in the Statehouse Rotunda. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council and the Bureau of Jewish Education all participated in the event, which marked the 16th time Indiana has held the ceremony.
Tibor Klopfer, whose father survived the Holocaust, spoke at the event. After the program, names of Holocaust victims were read out loud.
Mayor Greg Ballard also spoke at the ceremony, along with Shelby Anderson, President of the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council, Clayton Graham, Esq., Chairperson of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, Jamal L. Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and Rabbi Dennis Sasso of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck.
