Indiana highway commissioner picked for Purdue job
The head of the Indiana Department of Transportation is looking to join former Gov. Mitch Daniels at Purdue University.
Daniels appointed Michael Cline as the highway department's commissioner in 2010, and he's continued in that job this year under Gov. Mike Pence. Daniels became Purdue's president in January.
Purdue legal counsel Steve Schultz tells the Journal & Courier that Cline has been offered the position of vice president for physical facilities pending approval from the state ethics commission.
Cline would replace Robert McMains, who is leaving Purdue to become chief facilities officer at the University of Alabama-Birmingham
Indiana Department of Administration commissioner Robert Wynkoop left that job this spring to become managing director of Purdue University's business and finance office.
