Indiana gets $250,000 grant to restore lake
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is getting $250,000 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to restore about 60 acres of a northwestern Indiana lake.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced the funding for Lake George on Thursday as part of $1 million in total funding for the multi-state Calumet region. The project is intended to remove dense invasive plant species.
The Interior Department says the funds will support the Millennium Reserve's Calumet Core initiative to restore 140,000 acres and provide recreational opportunities in the region.
