A man charged with killing a romantic rival more than 20 years ago is back in northeastern Indiana to face a murder charge after being extradited from India.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Department says deputies returned 47-year-old Mahfuz Huq to the Steuben County Jail in Angola on Tuesday. He's due to go before a Steuben County judge on Thursday.

Huq is charged with fatally stabbing 19-year-old Todd Kelley at his home in Hamilton, about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne. At the time, Huq already was accused of threatening to kill anyone who dated his former girlfriend. Huq, who was 22 at the time, was charged with murder two weeks later.

Huq was arrested in New Delhi in 2011 while traveling from his native Bangladesh. He fought his extradition.
