IMPD squad car in overnight accident

A Metro Police officer was taken to the hospital to be checked out after his squad car was struck on the south side early Friday morning.

Investigators told Eyewitness News the officer was southbound on Shelby Street shortly before 2:00 a.m. when a woman driving westbound on Raymond ran a red light and struck the police car in the front end.

The officer complained of neck pain, but otherwise did not appear to be seriously injured.

The woman will be cited for running the red light.  She was not hurt.
