A Metro Police officer is out of jail and temporarily off the force after his second alcohol-related arrest in as many years.

Ofc. Allen Johnson Saturday bonded out of the Hamilton County Jail where he was booked on a preliminary charge of OWI. The five-year IMPD veteran was off-duty and driving his personal car when police in Fishers arrested him early Friday morning.

The department suspended Johnson without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation. That report should be delivered to Chief Rick Hite in the coming days.

Johnson is just one of seven IMPD officers arrested in the past year on suspicion of DUI or OWI.
