IMPD officer facing drunk-driving charges to appear in court today

IMPD Officer Allen Johnson

A Metro Police officer is expected to appear in court today facing charges of drunk driving.

Officer Allen Johnson was off-duty and driving his personal car when he reportedly drove over a roundabout and crashed into a telephone pole.

Fishers Police say the five-year IMPD veteran admitted to drinking three to four mixed drinks before getting behind the wheel.

Johnson's blood-alcohol content registered at .13.

The department suspended Johnson without pay until an internal investigation is finished.

This is Johnson's second alcohol-related arrest in two years.
