The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting in the 10000 block of Dedham Drive on the city's east side.

The residents of a home called 911 from another location and said they had been robbed in their home.

Police arrived to find shell casings inside along with blood. Blood was also found on the street.

No one was around. Neighbors say they heard about four gunshots and some sounded like they came from outside.

Shortly after police responded to the call, they received a call about a gunshot victim at a second location at 25th Street and Post Road, about a mile away from the home at the Circle K gas station and convenience store. Police say a man received a call from a friend who said to meet him at the gas station. When he arrived, he found that friend shot up lying in the parking lot.

Police say the victim suffered at least two gunshot wounds, one to the leg and one to the side. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

While police believe the two crime scenes are connected, they're still not sure exactly how.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
