Metro homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that happened early this morning at the corner of Holloway and Roosevelt Avenues on the city's northeast side.

Neighbors called 911 at 2:15 a.m. after hearing shots and finding a man lying on Holloway Avenue, just east of the intersection of Roosevelt.

Police describe the victim as in his forties, and say he appeared to be shot twice, once in the stomach and once in the arm. He was taken to IU Health-Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Police say he immediately underwent surgery.

At this point, investigators have no suspects or motive for the shooting.

"There had been a BBQ earlier," said Lt. Mark McCardia with IMPD. "Not sure if he was there. People here know him — roughly, they knew his name. So, not sure of the involvement there."
