Indianapolis Metro Police say a family dispute led to a gun battle overnight in Mars Hill, leaving a man dead and two others injured, one critically.

It happened around 12:18 am in the 3100 block of South McClure St.

Police say 47-year-old Wendell Vanbuskirk was pronounced dead at the scene. Lisa Farley, also 47, was shot in the face and rushed to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. Aridith Curbeaux, 34, was shot in the head and shoulder and is in stable condition.

A domestic dispute at a family gathering took place between the deceased male and his girlfriend's family earlier in the day.

He was asked to leave, but returned later with other subjects and assaulted his girlfriend's mother with a baseball bat outside the home.

The female victim's husband shot at the male and the other male subjects with him in his vehicle. A gun battle started, which left one person dead and two others injured.
IMPD homicide is investigating. No arrests have been made.
