IMPD identifies two killed in east Indianapolis shooting

Indianapolis Metro Police have identified two people who died in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis Tuesday evening.

The victims were identified as Dominique Jenkins, 21, and Charles Nelson, 25. Their families have been notified.

Police responded to the shooting in the 4000 block of Brentwood Drive around 6:15 p.m. One victim of the shooting was found outside the front of the residence, suffering with a gunshot wound. The 21-year-old male, later identified as Jenkins, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers then found a second person, a 25-year-old man, suffering from gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. He was taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. He was identified as Charles Nelson.

Detectives are searching for witnesses, but have not yet determined a motive or suspect information.
