Indianapolis Metro Police have identified the teen killed in an early morning shooting on the east side.

Connor Lee, 19, was killed at an apartment complex near 21st and Post.

Police knew the identity of the victim early on, but waited a few hours to release his identity to make sure all family members were notified.

Lee lived in the apartment building where he was found dead from a gunshot wound.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene about ten minutes after he was found.

What led up to the shooting is unclear. The 19-year-old had an extensive criminal history dating back to when he was just 15. Also, there was an incident in a next door apartment unit just last month where two men with a gun tried to get into the apartment unit. Witnesses said they were members of a gang.

Who is responsible for this homicide is unclear, but police do have a witness to the shooting so that may help then narrow in on a suspect.
