IMPD: Gunshot that hit three-year-old came from inside home
Indianapolis Metro Police say that a gunshot that struck a three-year-old child came from inside his home.
Police were called to a home in the 1100 block of W. 27th St. just east of Riverside Park on Thursday afternoon. They found the three-year-old boy's mother holding him at the scene.
Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Aggravated Assault Unit determined that the gunshot originated from inside the residence. Police were initially told that the child was shot after answering a knock at the door.
Detectives are seeking a person of interest, but they did not provide a name or description.
The child was alert and talking at the scene. He was taken to Riley Hospital for Children-IU Health in good condition.
