IMPD, FBI seek to identify woman in convicted murderer's photo collection

Indianapolis Metro Police and the FBI are hoping someone can help solve a mystery by recognizing a woman who may be connected to an Ohio man who murdered his wife.

The picture is believed to have been taken at an Indianapolis area mall sometime between 1975 and 1984. She's one of two unidentified women found in John David Smith's photo collection.

Smith was convicted in 2000 of murder after a dismembered body found in an Indiana corn field in 1980 was finally identified as his wife.

Foul play is also suspected in the disappearance of Smith's second wife in 1991.

If you know who the woman is, call the IMPD Missing Persons Unit at 317-327-6160.
