IMPD arrests 'serial robber'

Indianapolis Metro Police say they've caught a serial robber.

Police arrested 24-year-old Anthony Johnson on Wednesday night. Officers were flagged down in the 3800 block of N. Keystone Ave. by a witness who told them the Dollar General was being robbed.

As officers approached the store, they saw a man come outside holding something. He started to run, and officers saw that he was dropping cash. They chased the man on foot until they caught up with him on Hillside Ave.

IMPD says the suspect, identified as Anthony Johnson, was holding a wad of cash in his hand. They say Johnson confessed to six other robberies in Indianapolis and one in Lawrence.

Johnson is accused of using a knife in all of the robberies. He faces eight felony counts for robbing these businesses:

Village Pantry- 1624 S. State

Value Liquors- 3739 N. Shadeland

Village Pantry- 2001 E. Broad Ripple

Thornton Oil- 7020 E. Pendleton Pike

Family Dollar- 3757 E. New York
